Deputy Secretaries-General

Ms Mmasekgoa Masire-Mwamba

DSG Masire MwambaMs Mmasekgoa Masire-Mwamba, from Botswana, took office as Commonwealth Deputy Secretary-General on 2 June 2008. 

Ms Masire-Mwamba succeeded Mrs Florence Mugasha of Uganda who left the Secretariat on 31 May 2008 after six years in post.

Mr Ransford Smith

Deputy Secretary-General Ransford SmithRansford Smith was appointed Deputy Secretary-General of the Commonwealth in August 2006.

A career diplomat of nearly 30 years standing in the Jamaican Public and Foreign Service, Mr Smith previously served as Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Commerce and Technology, and also Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Industry and Investment.
