QUALITATIVE TRADE PROFILE

Djibouti has bound all of its tariff lines. The simple average bound tariff for all goods is 40.9% with agricultural goods being bound at 47.3% and non-agricultural goods bound at 39.9%. Applied rates are relatively high for the region at 20.5% for agricultural goods and 32.6% for non-agricultural goods. Non-ad valorem duties are not widely used and apply only to 2.7% of Djibouti's tariff lines.

Djibouti is a member of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), the Intergovernmental Authority on Development, the African Union (AU) and the African Economic Community (AEC). Djibouti is currently negotiating an Economic Partnership Agreement with the EU through the ESA configuration.

Multilateral

Djibouti is a founding member of the WTO and grants at least MFN treatment to all of its trading partners. Djibouti has Gats commitments in 13 sectors.
