Permanent Housing

How do I go about finding permanent housing? Does the Secretariat provide any assistance?

Overseas professional and diplomatic staff are provided with a housing allowance equivalent to 30 per cent of gross salary. Please note that this amount is taxable for overseas Professional staff.

Viewing potential homes sometimes require time off from work. Please make the necessary arrangements with your manager.

For staff members with children, schooling is an important factor in deciding on a place to live. Access to public transport and rental price are others. Colleagues will help you get oriented.

Public transport is efficient and reliable. It is more convenient to use public transport to and from work than to drive because of traffic congestion and the time it would take. London imposes a congestion charge for vehicles at the rate of £9 a day. In addition there will be cost for car tax, fuel and maintenance.
