Does the Secretariat pay for me and my family to travel to London for me to assume duty?
For Diplomatic and Professional staff recruited from overseas, the Secretariat will provide air tickets for the staff member, their spouse and up to three dependent children. A child is defined as a person under the age of 18 years who resides with the staff member or under 21 who is in full time educational. For the purpose of this information, they will be referred to as your family.
Air travel of 8 hours or more will be by business class. Air travel of less than 8 hours duration will be by economy class. Family members who do not travel with a staff member on appointment will travel by economy class, irrespective of the flights' duration. Such travel must be within 6 months of the eligible staff member’s own journey. Otherwise, the travel expenses will not be met by the Secretariat in whole or part.
Following consultation with you, the Human Resources Section will make arrangements to issue tickets. These will either be sent to you or issued by a travel agent closest to you. You may also purchase tickets yourself, subject to requirements. You will be reimbursed on presentation of receipts.
