CFTC Experts

Lifeboat training Bangladesh

The Commonwealth Fund for Technical Co-operation (CFTC) provides technical expertise to both the public and private sectors through assignments that range from a few days to two or three years.

More than 350 experts are provided each year.

This type of assistance incorporates the training of local counterparts so that the work of experts continues once an assignment ends. The Commonwealth Service Abroad Programme (CSAP), the volunteer programme of the Commonwealth Secretariat, is run by the CFTC.

CSAP projects use practitioners who provide on-the-job training and introduce new technologies and practices. Special emphasis is placed on information and communication technologies; innovative approaches to poverty reduction; enterprise development; income generation; and environment and heritage preservation. On average, 15 projects involving 40 volunteers are implemented each year.

Those wishing to apply for registration as an expert on the CFTC roster Database, whether on standard terms or under the Commonwealth Service Abroad Programme, should send a completed Personal History Form together with a CV to Mrs Jackie Browne at the Roster Section, Commonwealth Secretariat. All applicants must be nationals of a Commonwealth member country.
