The Strategic Planning and Evaluation Division (SPED) provides capacity and technical leadership to support the Secretariat's strategic and operational planning and manages the performance monitoring and evaluation of the organisation's work.
It promotes internal co-ordination and facilitates consideration of the future role of the Commonwealth, at various levels. It also facilitates co-ordination between the Secretariat and other Commonwealth organizations and civil society.
In planning and implementing its activities, the Secretariat focuses on issues such as the strategic development priorities identified by Commonwealth Heads of Government at their biennial meetings and the Secretariat's governing bodies.
The Evaluation Section contributes to quality and effectiveness of Secretariat programmes in two main areas:
The conduct and management of an annual evaluation programme and the dissemination of findings and lessons from these studies; and, Performance information and the implementation of results monitoring and reporting across the programme.
