Guidelines for Authors

Authors are encouraged to submit manuscripts on computer disk or by email attachment. No liability is accepted for loss or damage to material submitted.The following guidelines should be kept in

mind when submitting manuscripts:

a) Contributions should be either typed or word processed on one side of the paper only, double spaced with a left hand margin of at least 2 inches;

b) Biographical details should be starred (*) and precede the footnotes. They should include the author's current employment, academic qualifications and any other pertinent details in light of the submission;

c) Footnotes should be kept to a minimum and numbered consecutively throughout the text using arabic numerals;

d) Authors should pay particular attention to the accuracy and presentation of references:

i. Cases should be cited as: Miller v Walker [2005] 2 All ER 7.

ii. Where quotations from judgments are given the page reference should also be provided: Miller v Walker [2005] 2 All ER 7 at 23.

iii. Books should be cited as: Khan, R, Legislative Process of India, 2005, London: Willis and O'Connor.

iv. Articles should be cited as: Smithside, T, 'Judicial Reform in Jamaica' (2005) 2(4) CLR 9-38.

v. Publications with more than two authors should be cited as Price et al.

e) Authors are expected to check the accuracy of all references in the manuscript before submission as it may not be possible to provide proofs for correction;

f) An abstract of no more than 100 words should be included with longer articles;

g) Authors submit manuscripts on the basis that exclusive copyright is assigned to Cavendish Publishing Limited, but they are free to republish their contribution in other works. If a manuscript or extract is reproduced elsewhere, the Commonwealth Law Bulletin should be acknowledged as the original source of publication;

h) If a manuscript is accepted by the Commonwealth Law Bulletin, it could be published in both print and electronic format;

i) All contributors will receive 10 free offprints and one free copy of the issue in which their article appears.

The Legal Editor is pleased to discuss subjects for possible publication. Decisions on manuscripts will normally be made within two months of receipt.
