The Commonwealth Consultative Group on Environment held its first meeting at Ministerial Level on 22 June 1993 at the United Nations in New York, on the eve of the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD). The meeting was chaired by Mr Kamal Nath, India's Minister for Environment and Forests.
