Commonwealth Environment Ministers met on 20 April 1999 in New York for the sixth meeting of the Commonwealth Consultative Group on Environment, convened in the wings of the high-level segment of the 1999 session of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development. The Meeting was chaired by the Honourable Ismail Shafeeu, Minister of Home Affairs, Housing and Environment of the Republic of Maldives. Its main theme was overcoming vulnerability and accelerating the sustainable development of small states.
