Main priorities and initiatives

Our work focuses on:

- Implementing all areas of the Commonwealth Climate Change Action Plan. Click here for details of this plan

- Maintaining and expanding our multi-stakeholder network which operates as a forum for action and discussion on human settlement issues. Click here for definition of human settlements

- Working to help Commonwealth countries be more effective in preparing for and responding to natural disasters.

- Supporting the Iwokrama International Centre for Rainforest Conservation and Development (Click here for definition)

- Providing advice on natural resources management which helps governments adopt more effective policies and strategies for achieving environmentally sustainable development.

- Supporting countries in developing a greater appreciation of different impacts of climate change on specific groups, particularly women.
