- What is the Commonwealth Games?
The Commonwealth Games, also known as the ‘friendly games’ is a unique, friendly, world class, multi-sports Games.
- How often does the Commonwealth Games take place?
Every four years.
- What sports are in the Commonwealth Games?
The programme of the Commonwealth Games consists of a maximum of 17 sports and a minimum of ten sports. These 10 obligatory sports are: athletics, aquatics - race swimming, badminton, boxing, hockey (men and women), lawn bowls, rugby 7s (men), netball (women), squash and weightlifting. The maximum number of team sports is four. The host country may, in addition, be required to include events for athletes with a disability if the Commonwealth Games Federation in the General Assembly so decide.
- Where is the next Commonwealth Games taking place?
New Delhi, India, will host the next Commonwealth Games in 2010. This will be the first time India has hosted the Games and only the second time the event has been held in Asia (Kuala Lumpur in 1998 was the first).
Glasgow, Scotland, has been chosen to host the Commonwealth Games in 2014.
- Who is responsible for organising the Commonwealth Games?
