League’s Discussion Group meeting on 10 March which starts at 7.00pm at the Royal Over-Seas League in the Princess Alexandra Hall. Title: International education and the United World Colleges. Speaker: Maj Gen Tim Toyne Sewell DL, chairman of United World Colleges. No charge.

5th Annual Commonwealth Australia Lecture

The lecture is to be held at the invitation of the Vice-Chancellor at the University of Western Australia, Perth. It will be given by Mr Justice Nicholas Hasluck AM, chair of the Advisory Committee for the Commonwealth Writer's Prize on 'Thought Crimes and Other Themes in Commonwealth Literature'. Over 100 acceptancies have been recieved. The Governor of Western Australia and Mrs Michael will attend. Professor Don Markwell, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of UWA and a member of the International Advisory Board of The Round Table will preside, while Professor Geoffrey Bolton AO formerly Chancellor of Murdoch University Perth will move the vote of thanks.

2nd Commonwealth Day Multi Faith Celebration

A multi faith celebration modelled on the lines of the annual Commonwealth Observance in Westminster Abby will be held at the Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture in Canberra under the auspices of a committee chaired by Mr Tony Eggleton AO and the Director of the Centre the Reverend Professor James Haire AM. In the absence of the Governor-General The Queen's Message will be read by his Offficial Secretary. The theme will be that for this year: The Commonwealth: The Environment -Our future. Representatives of the different Faiths will read from their scriptures and the Six Affirmations will be made. Cultural activities will include a classical Indian dance, a Chinese dance, and Trinidad steel drumming. A Tongan Choir, a Uganda Quartet, and the Woden Valley Youth Choir will each sing.
