How do I go about finding permanent housing? Does the Secretariat provide any assistance?
Overseas professional and overseas diplomatic staff are provided with housing allowance equivalent to 30 per cent of gross salary. Please note that this amount is taxable for overseas Professional staff.
Viewing of potential homes sometimes require time off from work. For that purpose, please make the necessary arrangements with your manager.
For staff members with children, schooling is an important , if not the primary factor, in deciding on a place to live. That and access to transportation system to work, and rental price, of course, are among other determining factors. Colleagues will help you get oriented.

It is more convenient to use public transport to and from work than to drive because of traffic congestion and the time it would take to drive to work. The City of London imposes congestion charge for vehicles at the rate of £8 a day. In addition there will be cost for car tax, fuel and maintenance. Public transport is relatively reliable.
