Summary:
The objectives of the 2-day workshop is to provide a forum for academic and gender practitioners to analyze issues and challenges that pertains to gender and identify relevant interventions, create a forum for networking and collaboration on gender concerns among Commonwealth scholars and civil society at individual and institutional level, identify new areas of research on gender, create new and strengthen existing national and international networks, and bring to the attention of WAMM, and governments represented of the importance of supporting gender mainstreaming in institutions of higher learning in the Commonwealth countries. The outcome of the workshop will be a statement that will be fed on 8WAMM on promoting gender equality in the commonwealth universities for development and democracy. Participants will include senior University staff from selected African Universities that are members of Association of Commonwealth Universities. Some NGO whose work focuses on Education in Uganda will also be represented.
