The Archives holds the records of the Commonwealth Secretariat.
The records date from its establishment in 1965 and include a wide range of materials concerned with politics, economic relations, inter-governmental meetings and the internal administration of the organisation itself.
Arnold Smith (1915 – 1994), served as the first Secretary-General 1965 -1975.

The Commonwealth Secretariat follows a policy of releasing records into the public domain after a 30 year closure period.
