Alexandra Jones

Alexandra Jones has been Director of the Strategic Planning and Evaluation Division at the Commonwealth Secretariat since January 2002. She has overall responsibility for the Secretariat’s Planning, Evaluation and Civil Society Liaison activities, as well as servicing the Secretariat’s Governing Bodies, providing policy advice, and supporting the ‘Respect and Understanding’ commission.

Alexandra previously worked for the United Nations Development Programme in Indonesia and Nepal and as Chief Executive for the Westminster Foundation for Democracy. Other organisations she has worked for include the International Planned Parenthood Federation, McKinsey and Co Inc, the World Bank, and the Commonwealth Foundation, where she was Deputy Director.

She is a Council Member of the Royal Commonwealth Society and a Board Member of the ‘Round Table’ (Commonwealth Journal of International Affairs).

Alexandra speaks several languages and holds Masters’ degrees from Harvard, Oxford and London universities.
