Sarika Katoch, 25, holds a degree in Commerce from H.P. University and a certificate in Commonwealth Diploma in Youth Development from IGNO. She is pursuing her Masters’ in Rural Development from the Indira Gandhi National Open University.

At present she is serving as secretary to Himachal Children and Development Organisation where she is engaged in women empowerment, youth and child development, environment & health issues, formation of self-help group’s such as micro credits etc.

A youth activist and artist, Sarika is engaged in HIV/AIDS awareness among the rural youth and women. She was awarded by the BBC WORLD SERVICE TRUST as a ‘Youth Star’ of the country for her work in this field.

A three episode television series featuring her work was broadcasted on the national channel and was highly appreciated by millions of viewers. She also represented India as a youth delegate to China in 2006. She has acclaimed many awards on state and national level including Best Youth Awards, Best Cadet Award, Best Cultural Activist and many more.

Having more than 10 years of experience in the field of social and youth development issues, she has contributed her voluntary services to many of governmental and non-governmental organisations such as the Red Cross Society, Department of Health, Tourism, Culture, and Ministry of Youth Affairs.

She has served the nation with the NEHRU YUVA KENDRA SANGATHAN as a national service volunteer for two years at grassroots, organisational, strategic, coordinating and monitoring levels.

Her motto is “Take the ‘responsibility’ and you will automatically get the ‘right’.
