Michael Kinyanjui Mburu

Kenya Regional Youth Caucus Representative

He was born in Banana Hills of Kiambu District in Central Province in August 1986.

He is currently in Kenyatta University pursuing BSc (Computer Science) having graduated from Kiambu High School in the year 2004.

His interest in youth work can be traced back to the high school days when he used to be active in voluntary community work in partnership with the local youth. He founded the GAYPA youth group in 2003 to mobilize and unite the local youth in addressing their social, economic and political challenges.

He was nominated to be the Commonwealth Youth Representative for Kenya in September 2007 by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. He has since represented the youth of Kenya in international forums such as the Commonwealth Youth Forum in Uganda, the Commonwealth Regional Advisory Board Meeting in Seychelles, the Commonwealth Youth Ministers’ Meeting in Sri Lanka, the UN HABITAT Youth Crime Prevention and Cities Summit in South Africa and the Commonwealth Respect and Understanding Meeting in Johannesburg.

Mburu’s vision for the Kenyan youth is a generation of young men and women of integrity who do not discriminate on tribe or social class but work together to liberate themselves from the modern Kenya challenges of unemployment, crime, poverty, tribalism, HIV/AIDS and poor leadership.
