Dabesaki Mac-Ikemenjima
Dabesaki Mac-Ikemenjima, 26, has been involved in the youth movement since 2001 and is the Executive Director of a non-governmental organisation - ‘Development Partnership International’. He is the co-founder and task force member of Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS. His interest is in the fields of education, HIV/AIDS, ICT4D and animal welfare. Dabesaki, currently pursuing his Bachelors degree, aspires to completing a Masters degree in Development Studies, to undertake a PHD study and then working within the UN or Commonwealth system on youth development issues. His hobbies are travelling, reading and critical discussions.
On education, he argues that “while the government is working hard towards universal access, the standard is falling. I think that education needs to be accessible as a human right to all young people, yet there needs to be a balance between access and quality, otherwise, in the future, there will be very many young graduates who are unable to defend their qualifications”.
