Toani Narao

Toani Narao, the Deputy RYC member for Kiribati, is the information and communication officer at the Kiribati family health association. Before that he was involved as a youth volunteer helping organizing youth activities such as clean up Champaign and awareness program on health issues.

Toani has been an activist for 4 years now. In 2008 he decided to join the Kiribati family health association as a youth volunteer. She involved in organizing youth activity and was nominated by my organization to represent my country to attend the youth forum on sexual reproductive health and right, which was organised by international planned parenthood federation and it held in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. In 2009 he was also selected among the young people to attend the 2nd youth festival in Suva Fiji. These are the things that started her on the road to become an activist.

Working with young people and other youth stakeholders to support and addressing the youth problems nowadays is the thing that Toani is most proud of. He loves working with young people to address issues such as conducting awareness on health issues, facilitate workshops to address the increasing number of teenage pregnancy and STIs and HIV/AIDS.

He wants to become a community worker in his community and his island country as a whole. His volunteer work helps him build up his capacity in community work and the involvement of young people in decision making. 

Toani is passionate about the supporting to young people to work together to address their problems from my country to take action to the next level and to help each other to tackle their common problems.
