Ato Augustine is dedicated toadvocating for the sustainability of youth development and communityparticipation in decision-making locally, regionally and internationally.

Ato is a trained counsellor andhas a passion for assisting people with social challenges. His position as theprevious co-ordinator of an international helpline has given him extensiveexperience in relating to people and a passion for promoting holistic personaldevelopment.

Ato’s involvement in both the TrinidadYouth Council and the National Youth Council has also given him an intimateknowledge of the issues faced by young people in the wider community and hasprovided him with the opportunity to share his knowledge and experience and toadvocate for youth participation rights. He has actively participated inTrinidad and Tobago’s first ever National Youth Policy, National Youth Summitand has also been involved in the strategic planning for the development of theNational Youth Council.

Ato currently holds a firstdegree in Human Resource Management and a Certificate in Youth Work. He is alsothe recipient of two national youth awards one for Community and YouthDevelopment 2002 and the other for Youth in Leadership 2008. Ato’s interestsare in training and development, effective youth participation andrepresentation as well as peace building. He now has a greater appreciation forhow necessary social interventions and community based engagement are towardsbuilding a better nation, region and by extension world.
