Mark Flynn
Whilst studying for his Law degree at the University of Glasgow, Mark first became interested in international relations after completing his study abroad semester in New Zealand. Following this, he became involved with an international development charity at university and spent his summer living and working with a youth NGO in Malawi.
Mark has worked with young people for many years, ranging from sports coaching to making decisions at children’s hearings in Scotland. He was elected to sit on the Board of Trustees of the British Youth Council in 2009 and is currently working with a European level youth NGO.
“It is a real privilege to have been chosen to represent the UK at the Commonwealth Youth Programme. The Commonwealth unites people in an increasingly interdependent world and allows for different cultures, backgrounds and beliefs to come together to tackle the challenges that face the world today. Young people are especially important in the Commonwealth, as they are the leaders of tomorrow, and they can play a pivotal role in establishing intercultural dialogue and understanding to create a more prosperous future.”
