How does CYP work?

CYP operates through its Pan-Commonwealth Office (at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London) and its four Regional Centres.

  • Zambia - for Africa
  • India - for Asia
  • Guyana - for the Caribbean
  • Solomon Islands - for the Pacific

The Pan-Commonwealth Office is responsible for strategic leadership and direction of the entire coordinated CYP programme. The Regional Centres are responsible for developing and running programmes and activities within each region. Their presence in the field gives us continuous contact with young people, youth ministries and relevant organisations. This allows us to identify new youth development issues at an early stage and provides a vast pool of experience and resources (at the grassroots, national and regional level), all of which makes us more effective.
