Project Examples

Examples of Successfully Implemented Projects by the Special Advisory Services Division (SASD):

As at April 2004, SASD was managing 90 projects throughout the Commonwealth. Listed below are a few of the more recent initiatives

Debt Management

  • Establishment of Public Debt Management Offices in a number of countries including, Sri Lanka and Malta;
  • Implementation of a regional project to build capacity in debt management in seven South Pacific countries;
  • CS-DRMS Support and Maintenance for countries using the software 2000+;
  • Training Workshop on Debt reorganisation Using CS-DRMS 2000+.

Trade

  • Small States Export Development Forum - From Vulnerability to Competitiveness;
  • Strategic Trade in Services Programmes for Malta and Cyprus;
  • Regional Capacity Building for Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO);
  • Trade Facilitation Activities for Kenya;
  • Export Business Intensification Programme for Zambia.

Enterprise and Agriculture

  • Support for Pacific Island Regional Ocean Forum;
  • Development of Coastal Fisheries in the Pacific;
  • Development of trout farming in Papua New Guinea;
  • Countrywide consultations on the Draft National Fisheries Legislation for Tonga;
  • Development of SME's in Sierra Leone;
  • Development of Pharmaceutical Industry in the COMESA Region;
