Jarvis Matiya

Jarvis is a Human Rights Adviser. He is responsible for developing and implementing programmes on human rights in the Commonwealth, especially in the promotion of civil, political, economic and cultural rights.

Jarvis, from Malawi, has a legal background where he specialised in human rights law.

He joined the Secretariat in 2002.

 

Alina Meyer

Alina MeyerAlina is a Human Rights Officer. She holds a Masters degree in Human Rights from the London School of Economics, where she was a British Chevening Scholar, and a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University, Montreal, Canada.

Prior to joining the Secretariat she worked at the Canadian International Development Agency as a Senior Policy Analyst in the Policy Branch responsible for the OECD’s Development Assistance Committee and subsequently as a Senior Development Officer in the Americas Branch, responsible for human rights programming in the Inter-American context. She has also worked for Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade; the Peace and Governance Programme at the United Nations University, Tokyo; the Division for the Advancement of Human Rights, UNESCO, Paris; and the International Service for Human Rights, Geneva. She speaks English, French and Spanish.
 

Monica Vincent

Monica is a Interim Human Rights Officer.  

She holds an LLM in Public International Law from Oxford Brookes University, UK.  

Prior to joining the Secretariat, Monica was a Legal Research Consultant for Amnesty International India and a Senior Law Officer in The Human Rights Law Network based in New Delhi. Her experience also includes legal practice in the Indian Courts and most recently an internship at the International Criminal Court in Hague. For the last six years, she has served in the Commission of the Churches on International Affairs of the World Council of Churches, Geneva, Switzerland.
