Consultations are under way with small states' governments on the Review of the 2000 Commonwealth Secretariat/World Bank Joint Task Force Report.
The findings of the review - Toward an Outward-Oriented Development Strategy for Small States: Issues, Opportunities, and Resilience Building: the Review of the Small States Agenda proposed in the Commonwealth/World Bank Joint Task Force Report of April 2000 – were discussed at the September 2005 Commonwealth Finance Ministers Meeting and Annual Small States Forum organised by the World Bank.
At those meetings, Ministers considered the conclusions of the review and the recommendations made on the way forward for further implementation of the 2000 Report. They urged that further consultations with governments be undertaken before re-submitting the conclusions of the review to the 2006 Commonwealth Finance Ministers Meeting and Annual Small States Forum. This would ensure a better position from which to galvanise the support of other bilateral and multilateral agencies in assisting small states to address their vulnerability and build resilience in the years ahead.
